THE Men of Purpose (MOP), an organisation “Promoting Responsible Manhood”, would be observing International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on Friday with a march and rally.

The group said the activities have been organised to create greater awareness of the serious problem of violence against women in homes, in relationships and in the society at large and to register its commitment to the elimination of such violence.

“We would therefore like to invite all men, women and children who are also against such violence to be a part of this important march”, it said.

The march is to move off at 14:00 h from the junction of Main and Quamina streets in Georgetown, go south along Main Street, into Church Street, south into Albert Street, east into Brickdam, into Vlissengen Road, east into D’Urban Street, north into Mandela Avenue, then west into Hadfield Street and to the National Cultural Centre where a short rally will follow.

The main speaker at the rally will be Mr Clive Dutton, an expert on family issues and an advocate against domestic violence.
“Let’s all come together to fight violence against women and children in society”, the group urged.
