Essequibo rape accused granted bail in their absence
Kaieteur News – March 26, 2008
Three of the four teenagers accused of raping a mentally unstable middle-aged woman were yesterday granted bail in their absence.
It is unclear why the trio, who were incarcerated at the Georgetown Prisons, did not attend their court hearing before Magistrate Allan Wilson at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court.
The fourth teen, who was previously granted bail, did honour his commitment to attend the court hearing.
The quartet, on January 10, allegedly went to the woman’s home at Richmond Village, on the Essequibo Coast, rapped and went in, and while inside, committed the unlawful act.
They will return to court on April 22.
